Gypsies and Travellers Wales Request

Organisation Description
Gypsies and Travellers Wales supports and enables Gypsies and Travellers to achieve a high quality and equitable standard of life. We provide support, advice and advocacy to improve access to suitable accommodation, public services and employment.
We work with the community to challenge discrimination and negative stereotypes. We work in partnership with the Welsh government, local authorities and public services bodies to improve the delivery of services to Gypsies and Travellers, particularly regarding the development, management and maintenance of accommodation and sites.
What are they looking for?
We are seeking 2 additional trustees because 2 of our trustees have retired this year and another (Chair) will be stepping down in November. Trustees oversee the management and administration of the charity, as well as ensuring we have a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. As a trustee, you will help set the direction of Gypsies and Travellers Wales and ensure our staff are always doing the best we possibly can for Gypsies and Travellers in Wales. Ideal attributes are: - The willingness and ability to understand and accept responsibilities as trustees, and to act in the best interests of the organisation; - The ability to think creatively and strategically, and exercise independent judgment as a Board member; - Effective communication skills and the willingness to actively participate in discussions; - A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion; - Enthusiam for our vision: the full recovery of mental health through early intervention by listening, talking, and action; Commitment to Nolan's 7 principles of public life: Selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.
